McDan Tennis Open begins at Accra Sports Stadium

The 2014 first ever McDan Tennis Open has began at the Tennis Courts of the Accra Sports Stadium with a lot of the participants showing interest, displaying skills and determination of win the handsome cash prize at stake.

The event with ends on Saturday, April 26, 2014 has 1,000ghc at stake for the winner and 600ghc for the runner-up. The third placed takes home 300ghc and the fourth collecting 150ghc.

The event which is a Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) ranking tournament is sponsored by McDan Group of Companies with support from Rush Energy Drink and AF West Security.

Over 60 players have registered to participate and the first day produced some wonderful displays and surprising results as unknown players edged out some popular players.

The tournament is divided into men’s and women’s opens for over 18years players.

Nathaniel Attoh of JoySports fame who is a coordinator for the McDan Open said the programme has made it possible for some hidden talents to be discovered.

He commended McDan Shipping for supporting a lesser known sporting discipline and hoped that other companies will come on board to save other sports.

The Tennis Courts will be kept alive with tunes from Die Hard Supporters Union and the National Women’s Supporters Union (NAWSU).
