Tesano Spinners tops Stanbic Bank Table Tennis league after first round

The first round of the Stanbic Ghana Table Tennis League ended in a magnificent style over the weekend at the D.G. Hathiramani Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium as Tesano Spinners continued to maintain their lead at the top after shrugging off competition from title hopefuls Immigration.

The final day for round one of the Stanbic Ghana Table Tennis league was set up as the day to engage the Media in other to enhance their reportage and also assist them to understand the technicalities of the discipline.

The final match day witnessed Table Tennis enthusiast troop in to the Accra Sports Stadium to cheer their teams on to victory.

Tesano Spinners mauled both Navy and Kings Royal whilst defending champions Immigration steadily beat of third competitors SmartLine@Emefs 3-1 in a mouthwatering encounter.

In other games played on the day, Loopers were 3-0 victors over Madina Stars whilst Ashanti Otumfuo Stars beat Team Baboo 3-2, Kings Royal Academy defeated Ashaiman Club 1-0 and Police thrashed Ghana Revenue Authority(GRA), 3-0, meanwhile Western Table Tennis Club beat Synergy 3-0 and Team Coach Addo were defeated 2-3 by Fire Service.

In the second matches of the day Immigration beat Police 3-1, Synergy lost 0-3 to SmartLine@Emefs, Fire beat Madina Stars 3-1 and Looper drew 3-3 with Team Baboo, whilst Team Coach Addo lost 2-3 to Western Table Tennis Club.



Kings Royal Academy were also beaten 3-1 by Spinners.

In the women’s division, Navy beat Madina Stars 3-0, Ashanti Otumfuo Stars lost 2-3 to Western Table Tennis Club, Army beat Immigration 3-2, Police lost 2-3 against Team Coach Addo and Spinners beat GRA 3-0.

In match two of the women’s league, league leader Spinners overcame Ghana Army 3-1 in a thrilling encounter whilst Team Coach Addo managed a slim victory GRA beating them 2-3, Immigration beat Ashanti Otumfuo Stars 3-1, Police defeated SmartLine@Emefs 3-1 and Western Table Tennis Club won 3-1 over Madina Stars.

Speaking to Ghanaweb shortly after the event President of the Ghana Table Tennis Federation Mr. Mawuko Afadzinum said he was very amazed with the competitiveness and the great quality displayed by players in the league.

“It’s been very good, the quality of play has been very intensive the competitiveness is comparable to some of the best and most importantly the performance of the key players has really gladdened me.

People were playing over and above their ability, it’s very positive and a very strong way of ending the first round of the Stanbic Ghana Table Tennis league.”
