National Table Tennis Championship On Saturday

Accra, April 23, GNA - The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) as part of its preparations towards the impending All Africa Games in Algiers will on Saturday, April 28, hold its monthly championship to select players for the national team as well as sharpen their rough edges of the Loopers.
The championship is scheduled for the Seven Great Princess Academy Hall, Dansoman and is being sponsored by the Ghana Aids Commission. It is aimed at using the sport to create awareness and spread the message of Aids to the youth.
A statement signed by Mr Kwame Ampofi Jr, Secretary General of the GTTA said 10 top ranked players from both the male and female categories have been invited to participate. In all, six players will be selected for camping by the technical handlers of the GTTA.
According to the statement, the format for the competition will be a best of seven in an all-play-all system in both divisions. The following players make up the male division, Derek Abrefa - Greater Accra, Felix Lartey - Greater Accra, Mohamed Ali - Central Region, Emmanuel Commey - Greater Accra, Mohamed Ali Snr - Ghana Police Service, Benjamin Nelson - Greater Accra, Joseph Osei - Greater Accra, Raymond Donkor - Ghana Police, Acquah Aikins - Ghana Armed Forces and Tweneboa Kodua - Ghana National Fire Service.
In the female division are; Akosua Ketu - Central Region, Cecelia Baah-Danso - Central, Linda Annor - Greater Accra, Bernice Dorquaye - Ghana Armed Forces, Milicent Enison - Greater Accra, Abigail Tetteh Ghana Immigration Service, Doreen Nortey - Ghana Immigration Service, Beatrice Gyasi - Ghana Police Service, Dedora Allotey - Ghana Immigration Service, Fozia Amadu - Ghana Police Service. The invitees are listed according to the order of ranking. The GTTA has however granted special dispensation to two players - Owusu-Agyei Oforiwah - CEPS and Amankrah Frnacesca - Ghana National Fire Service.
