Danso grabs Table Tennis Championship top prize

Celya Baah Danso of the Ghana Armed Forces, put up a splendid performance to win the 2013 DG Hathiramani Table Tennis Championship by beating number top seed Cynthia Kwabie of the Ghana Immigration Service at the D.G. Hathiramani, of the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday November 30, 2013. Baah Danso played a fantastic game and won the games to the admiration of fans of the sport who gathered to watch the event, most of them wondering about the newly found confidence and stamina of the amazing player.

She kept her cool head and occasionally went in for the smashes which 2012 SWAG award winner, Kwabie found no answers.

Celya Baah Danso who missed the National Open as she was at the Military training said it is now time for SWAG to recognize her after failing to reward her in 2011 when she was on top and represented Ghana at the All African Games in Maputo.

This year, she has won two of the three major competitions and believes she would climb the podium with the top stars of the nation. She said the Military has added more to her discipline, respect and humbleness which was her main weapons to destroy the favourite, Cynthia Kwabie.

The Ghana Armed Forces new recruit took home a trophy and cash prize. She wins the trophy for keeps if she wins for the third time. She was winner last year. In the men’s category, Derek Abrefa turned the tables again to grab the winner by beating Felix Lartey..

The competition attracted all the best players of the nation and it was successfully organized by the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA).
