New England Revolution Release Emmanuel Osei

January 17, the New England Revolution waived Emmanuel Osei, a centerback from Ghana. Osei, 28, made 44 appearances for the Revolution and was known both for his high level of technical skill and incomprehensible decision-making that often left keepers lunging for balls that should easily have been paried. Osei was also known for being uncommunicative with other players and in two years, never once speaking with the press.

"[Osei] doesn’t speak much at all,’’ goalkeeper Matt Reis told Gus Martins for ESPN. “It’s always an adventure out there. I just try and do what I do and try and talk. Sometimes he hears and sometimes he doesn’t. I don’t know what to call it. It’s not a communication gulf. It is what it is."
