Homes Of Mills & Rawlings To Be Searched

As NPP Goes In Search Of Imaginary Arms

Retired Generals & NDC Gurus To Face Music Too Henry Acquah,

The residences of President Rawlings and former Vice President Mills are targeted to be searched for ammunition, the Lens can authoritatively reveal. Other homes targeted to be searched in the planned operation are the homes of retired generals and leading party officials of the National Democratic Congress.

Unimpeachable sources close to government have informed the Lens that this plan has been agreed to at the highest levels of government and will be kick started anytime soon.

The source explained that the deliberate hot air that has been generated in NPP circles following the recent meeting between the former president and former service commanders was part of the prelude to prepare the ground for this operation.

A source close to President Rawlings has indicated that the former President is privy to the planned operation.

“They are welcome. There is nothing on the premises that’s not licensed or unknown to them,” disclosed the source around President Rawlings. Others have however raised concerns that given the desperation and the deviousness of the NPP, they could under the guise of such arm searches, even clandestinely plant drugs in the premises in question and turn round to claim that they have found such stuff while searching the premises. The NPP government has been at pains to create the false impression that the former president and the NDC are preparing to destabilize the nation ahead of the 2008 elections.

Speaking on Citi Fm recently, the NPP general Secretary went to the extent of claiming that his party has reason to believe that the NDC was planning such schemes with a view to compelling the NPP to agree to the establishment of a power sharing arrangement after the elections. Nana Ohene Ntow claimed that trends and reported clandestine meetings of NDC leaders in different parts of the country point towards that eventuality.

In response to the claims, Fifi Kwetey, Spokesman for the NDC stated that every trend so far points to the fact that it is rather the NPP that has plans to unleash violence on the people of Ghana . Fifi Kwetey explained that it all started with the violence that rocked the presidential congress of the NPP which saw a situation where Akufo Addo’s henchmen deliberately framed and set up an innocent Paul Afoko and nearly got him lynched but for the swift intervention by the police.

The NDC executive member further explained that from that congress, NPP’s violence has spilled over into the party’s primaries and recently been extended onto the NDC culminating in the recent mayhem in Gushiegu where NDC supporters were killed and had their property destroyed by NPP thugs. “How this violent group can even dare point fingers at the NDC when every single violent incident is emanating from their corner is truly difficult to understand,” Mr Kwetey stated.
