GhanaWeb can confirm the passing of Christian theologian and former Vicar General of the Anglican Diocese of Accra, Rev. Prof Emeritus John Samuel Pobee.
A statement copied to GhanaWeb confirms that the 83-year-old theologian died on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. The cause of his death is yet unknown.
He served as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Head of Religions Department of the University of Ghana, Legon and also as the Director of the Programme for Theological Education of the World Council of Churches, Geneva.
The late Rev. Prof Emeritus John Samuel Pobee was married to Mrs. Martha Akyaa Pobee, Ghana's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN.
