DOZ of Harvest Chapel Int'l donates to GMI

Daughters of Zion (DOZ) of the Harvest Chapel International (HCI), on Saturday climaxed a week-long celebration, with a donation of items to the Great Mission International (GMI), an orphanage in Accra.

The items, valued at a cost of GH¢ 3,000, included four cartons of Peak Milk, four bags of Rice, five boxes of Indomie, 10 bales of used clothing, five cartons of Kalyppo, five bags of Maize, five tins of Tomatoes, 10 crates of Eggs, a bag of Flour, a gallon of Cooking Oil, toiletries, a bag of Gari and Sweets.

The celebration which was under the theme: “First Things First,” preceded the donation with a Talent Show, Hour of Power Service, Ministry of Second Generation, a Relationship Seminar and a Worship Night.

Pastor Mrs Thelma Odonkor, President of DOZ, said the donation was part of DOZ commitment to give back to the community, and that this was to let the children know how much God loves them.

She said Jesus fed the hungry and healed people with Emotional, Physical and Mental illnesses, which all Christians must practise and implement. Mrs Odonkor said the DOZ is a dedicated women’s ministry of the HCI, which is concerned with the plight of the needy and the vulnerable.

“God is aware of the children, and that is why He comes to support the mission in order to empower the lives of the children Mr John A. Nyavor, President of the Mission, disclosed that it is taking care of 51 children, including 32 males and 19 females, of the ages of nine months to 22 years. He said they were supported by a family in the United States, whose 10-year-old daughter he meets on the internet through chats.

Mr Nyavor noted that the mission expenditure was more than what it was receiving, adding that, “It is God’s divine intervention that keeps the mission running.”

He said the mission is retrieving children under the ages of 11 to 15 years from the markets in Accra, especially the Kaneshie Market, who are there without any good reasons, and accommodate them at the Grace House, a branch of the mission, at Gomoa Fetteh, in the Awutu Senya District of the Central Region.

“We teach the children to know their moral values and rights, and also about their social lives.” Mr Nyavor appealed to Individuals and Corporate bodies, non-Governmental organizations and Civil Society Groups, to support the mission to save the lives of innocent children who would be the future leaders of the country.

The DOZ has been in existence for about 30 years now, and started the celebration for more than a decade ago.
