With a mission to empower young Muslim girls through education and health awareness, the Muslimah Mentorship Network brought life-changing mentorship sessions to Abubakar Sidiq Islamic School at Ashale Botwe over the weekend, spotlighting critical issues like hygiene, academic excellence, and women’s health.

The visit, which took place on July 5, 2025, brought together six dedicated mentors who delivered comprehensive sessions on critical topics affecting young Muslim women.

One of the mentors, Miss Hasana Bambara, opened the session by introducing the Muslimah Mentorship Network to attendees, explaining the program’s objectives and how it aims to empower and support Muslim women in their educational, religious, and personal development journeys. She highlighted the mutual benefits for both mentors and mentees in the program.

Miss Nura addressed the subject of education, providing an inspiring overview of the importance of continuous learning from an Islamic perspective.

She encouraged students to take their education seriously, emphasizing how knowledge-seeking aligns with Islamic values and contributes to both personal growth and societal development.

Madam Sirina A Manan followed with practical guidance on maintaining educational momentum, offering encouragement and detailing the numerous benefits of education for individuals and their communities. Her session provided actionable strategies for sustaining learning throughout life’s challenges.

Personal hygiene was comprehensively covered including oral hygiene, facial cleansing, environmental hygiene, and health hygiene. The presentation emphasized the connection between good hygiene practices and overall physical and mental well-being.

Miss Bambara addressed the sensitive topic of menstruation with remarkable openness and sensitivity. Her session covered menstrual hygiene practices, explained the different phases of the menstrual cycle, and importantly, addressed the issue of sexual harassment, providing prevention strategies and words of encouragement to attendees.

The mentors also provided a practical demonstration on sanitary pad usage, ensuring all attendees gained confidence and knowledge for effective menstrual hygiene management. The interactive session included a question-and-answer period.
