Grace Baptist Youth donates to two orphanages

Kumasi, August 14, GNA - The Youth Ministry of the Grace Baptist Church in Amakom, Kumasi, has donated items worth about GH1,000 to the Kumasi Children's Home and the All Nations Charity Home, all located in the Kumasi Metropolis.

The items included five bags of rice, three cartons of milk, baby diapers, three boxes of washing soap, three gallons of cooking oil, a pack of bathroom slippers, four packs of toilet rolls, loaves of bread, used clothing among others.

Pastor Owusu Johnson, the Youth Pastor, who led the benefactors, said the gesture was part of activities marking the Ministry's annual week celebration.

He explained that the donation was in fulfillment of the word of God which commands believers to take care of the needy in the society.

Pastor Johnson has promised the youth's continuous support to the orphanages and charged others to follow suit with their widow's mite since no contribution is small.

Mrs. Theresa Xolali Tenga, the Principal Child Care Officer, and the Reverend Philip Kwasi Nyamekye, Executive Director of the two Homes, thanked the group for the kindness.

Rev. Nyamekye, Head pastor of the Good Shepherd Christian Church, was content that the items came at the time when the inmates of the All Nations Charity Home were preparing for a camp meeting and needed them the most.

He said the Home, located at Ayigya, near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, which has 50 children was established to assist homeless children and those with little or no links to their families.

Rev. Nyamekye noted that with the provision of their basic needs, those who dropped out of school for lack of proper care are now back to school.

He appealed for support from individuals and corporate bodies to help maintain the home which is becoming congested as their number of inmates increases by the day.

The Minister also called on the members of the public to aid the Home with foodstuffs, others items and money to keep the children and remunerate the staff of the Home.
