Babal Jamal inaugurates Muslim Youth Association at Nsawam

Nsawam, June 16, GNA - Mr Baba Jamal, Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, has entreated Muslims at Nsawam in the Akuapem Municipality, to promote peace, unity and development in order to fix the development challenges facing them.

He made the appeal during the inauguration of a Muslim Youth Association in the Municipality, on the theme: "Unity and Development." Mr Jamal asked members of the association to strive hard to ensure the sustainability of the democratic environment in the country and promote civic education among the youth.

They must also create awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, armed robbery and negative peer influence associated with life on the streets.

He appealed to Muslims to send their children to school, which is key to their development. Mr Abu Sadat, former Member of Parliament asked the association to commit itself to provide social amenities like education and health facilities.

Dr Godfred Osei-Bonsu Twum, Akuapem South Municipal Chief Executive also called on the association to be at the frontline of educational pursuit among Muslims.

Superintendent S.A. Wemegah, Nsawam Police Commander, appealed to the association to establish community watchdog committees in the area to help curb the rising waive of crimes. Alhaji Musthafah, a Cape Coast High Court Judge, who chaired the function, commended Ayubaa Bubakari, Chairman of the association for his visionary leadership. He asked the association to be obedient and serviceable to elders in the society.
