Christian Divine Church initiates jubilee projects

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A) June 8, GNA - The Brong-Ahafo branch of the Christian Divine Church (CDC) at the weekend raised funds towards the construction of a clinic and a kindergarten valued at GHC 25,000 at Dormaa-Ahenkro to commemorate its golden jubilee. The celebration is under the theme, "When Jesus Sets You Free, You Are Free Forever." The church expects both projects to be completed in five years for the enhancement in education and health services not only for its members but also for every person within its catchments area. Launching the appeal, the Brong-Ahafo Regional head of the church, the Reverend A.A. Agyemang, noted that religious bodies could not succeed fully in their task of evangelism if their prospective converts and congregation wallowed in abject poverty and lacked basic social amenities.

He said it was, therefore, imperative for the Church to blend its religious campaigns with social programmes and projects to improve upon the general well-being of the people. Rev. Agyemang said one of the cardinal aims of the late founder of the church, Apostle John Taylor, was to provide for women and children in order to improve their status in society. He said even though the founder was no more, his ideals remained with his successors, who were prepared to build on what he achieved. Rev. Agyemang appealed to the Dormaa Traditional Council and sister religious groups to support the church morally, spiritually and materially to enable it to finish both projects within the stipulated time frame. He urged the Dormaa congregation to rally behind their leaders in their quest to provide a lasting monument in honour of the founder of the church.
