Christians ought to reflect Christian stewardship

Akoefe-Avenui, (V/R), April 18, GNA - A reverend minister has said Christians in positions of trust ought to reflect the essence of Christian stewardship in the discharge of their duties. He said anything to the contrary would constitute a great disservice and liability to the Christian faith and society in general. Reverend Alphonse Kwadzokuma, Ho-East Presbytery Chairman of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, said this at the 28th conference of the Presbytery at Akoefe near Ho under the theme, "Christian Stewardship revisited".

He said stewardship calls for accountability to both God and man. "We must therefore play our stewardship roles in humility, fear of God and dedication and not with arrogance and pride", he said. Rev Kwadzokuma said though the Presbytery has undergone transformation, lukewarm attitude to work, dishonesty on the part of some laity leaders and clergy were some challenges that needed to be tackled. Rev. Oscar K. Pida, the presbytery Clerk, said the Presbytery had acquired land at Sokode-Etoe in the Ho Municipal area for the building of a permanent Secretariat.

He said the presbytery has raised 18 million cedis towards the E.P. University project.

Participants made up of catechists, Presbyters and leaders of various groups in the Church agreed that tithing should be encouraged in order to strengthen the financial position of the Church.
