Bishop calls on Ghanaians to work harder this year.

Kumasi, Jan 1, GNA - Right Reverend Daniel Yinka-Sarfo, the Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, has called on all Ghanaians, especially Christians, to resolve to work harder this year to accelerate the development of the country.

He said there was the need for all to eschew evil, laziness, apathy and indiscipline and pursue all that is good to the glory of God and the nation.

This was contained in a New Year message he delivered at a New Year service at the Saint Cyprian's Anglican Cathedral in Kumasi. He said the Year 2007 is the 50th Year of a Biblical jubilee and so Ghana's 50th Year of Independence "is a year of blessing, liberty and progress for Ghana as a nation."

The Rt. Rev. Yinka-Sarfo said, "As Christians, let us take advantage of the unique opportunity God has prepared for us, do His will and thank Him for giving us this good land for our heritage".

He said people should not allow political ideologies and inclinations to divide them in any situation to impede the socio-economic and political development of the country. "Let us see ourselves as one people with common aspiration and destiny in all endeavours and in all situations, let us rely on God for solutions to our problems", he said.
