THE GHANAIAN CHRONICLE

The paper reports that the Chief Executive of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mr. Kwesi Ahwoi, has emphasised that Ghana's unemployment problem is not only a thorny issue for the government currently but will remain so over a long term. The Ghanaian Chronicle says Mr. Ahwoi, who was delivering a paper at a three-day seminar in Accra, said "The rate of population growth gives rise to serious cause for concern about the capability of the labour market to provide productive employment to the country ''slabour force". The seminar, organised by the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences in conjunction with the Fredrich Ebert Foundation, had the theme: "The economy of Ghana 1983-96". GRI
