Walewale Catholic Church celebrates Golden Jubilee.

Walewale (NR), March 4, GNA- The Saint Paul's Catholic Church in Walwale at the week end celebrated its Golden Jubilee with a call on Christians to spread the word of God.

The celebration under the theme, " In Mampurugu with Unity in Diversity, The Way Forward", was climaxed with a Church Service to thank God's guidance of the Parish for the past 50 years and also to pray for the Country.

Most Reverend Lucas Abadanloora, Bishop of the Navroongo/Bolgatanga Diocese who presided over the service commended the people for maintaining peace in the Church despite their different ethnic background.

"Through Jesus, we have become one, he broke all the barriers of ethnic divisions and called all to his ministry", he said. He thanked God for His mercies, saying, "God has favoured us with his great favours and we should continue to show him our gratitude in our praises and in our lives, by doing his will.

Majority of the members of the Catholic Church in Mamprugu are from different tribes, as the indigenous people are mainly Muslim. Mr. Jimba Mohamed, Manpursi West District Deputy Coordinating Director later thanked the Church for its contribution towards education, agriculture, and health.

He urged the priests to assist teachers to teach subjects like religious and moral education in the schools to help mould the lives of the children.

The Catholic Church has not only put up many schools in Manpurugu, but has over the past 30 years sponsored health and agricultural projects.

The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Moses Yaboah and former Priests of the Parish were present at the service.
