Use period of Ramadan to seek unity and development - DCE

Buipe (NR), Sept. 11, GNA - Mr. Issifu Sualisu Be-Awuribe, Central Gonja District Chief Executive (DCE) has appealed to the Muslims to seek national unity and development during the Ramadan period especially, in conflict areas of the north.

He said fasting was a period of sober reflection, stock taking, forgiveness and promotion of brotherliness and stressed the need for the setting a unity and development agenda to ensure that conflicts and poverty were addressed to push the nation forward. Mr. Be-Wuribe made the appeal on Friday when he addressed a gathering of Muslim faithfuls at Buipe who had congregated to offer special prayers to Allah for guiding them through the month-long fasting period.

He said Buipe was becoming a lucrative and investment destination of the north and appealed to its residents to continue to seek Allah's blessings so that investors would relocate there to create jobs for the unemployed youth.

"It is important for us to live in unity to erase the negative perception that Muslim communities were violent and contribute our quota towards nation building", he said.

He said the government would continue to give the necessary support to Hajj Pilgrims as an indication that the welfare of the Muslim activities was paramount in its planning. Alhaji Seidu Saaka, Chief Imam of Buipe, advised all Muslims to emulate Prophet Mohammed and offer some assistance to the needy in community to balance live equation. He appealed to the Hajji Committee and government to make this year's hajj more successful than last year's to justify the confidence reposed in them.
