Unity of purpose should bind us together-Chaplain

Ho, Feb 19, GNA- The Reverend Sylvanus Tettey, Chaplain of Mawuli School, Ho, on Sunday called on Ghanaians to be united around a common purpose in which the role of everybody was recognized and valued. He gave the exhortation during a sermon which focused on the lessons in the transfiguration of Jesus Christ at rally of E.P. Churches and Schools in the Ho municipality

Rev Tettey said the presence of Moses, the Prophet Elijah and some of Jesus' disciples during his transfiguration provided a useful lesson in unity of purpose as those personalities represented different periods and segments of society in the Ministry of God. He said by that example, the point was being made that the role and contributions of all segments of society and periods were valuable in attaining the common good.

Rev Tettey said, sadly that was not the case in Ghana where different generations and segments of the society tended to dismiss each other's importance, role, and contributions in the socio-economic and political development of the country.

He said as Ghana celebrates its 50 years of nationhood it should make a clear departure from the era of building of hedges and exclusiveness and chart a new course of unity of purpose where there is a dovetailing of efforts at nation building.
