UEW Campus Catholic Church still growing stronger - UEW lecturers

A team of lecturers in University of Education (UEW) believed to be Catholics, have vehemently denied allegations that the University of Education, Winneba Campus Catholic Church was collapsing.


According to a news release, signed by Carolus Asampambila, a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Health Administration and education, UEW and also the spokesperson for the team, the campus Catholic Church had the largest number of members than any denomination on campus and one of the largest in the entire Archdiocese of Cape Coast.


The release attributed the allegation levelled against the campus Catholic Church as a pack of lies and concocted news by some aggrieved lecturers of the university.
To buttress their point, the release said the church had completed a huge church building which could accommodate over two thousand worshipers at a goal for the university.


Additionally as part of the campus church social contribution to the society and also to inspire many, it was currently constructing a GHC 50,000.00 crèche for the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba, which at the completion stage.


The statement said they were also sponsoring hundreds of needy but brilliant students in the university and a major supporter of an Orphanage home (St. Anna’s) in Winneba Township.
It is, therefore, a blatant lie for anybody to peddle such scandalous and distractive allegation against the church and warned the peddlers not to involve the Catholic Church in any controversy on campus.


The release further stated that the “UEW case is about a citizen of Ghana going to court to request the position of the VC and FO to be declared vacant since the occupants had been appointed by a Governing Council term had expired”.


It further indicated that “the Lame excuse that former President Mahama wrote to extend their term was also tested in the court and it could not stand”.
