TJC Ladies Fellowship presents assorted items to Orphanage

Tema, March 28, GNA - Members of the Ladies Fellowship of the Tema Joint Church (TJC), on Sunday, presented assorted items worth GHC2,500, and GHC100 cash, for the upkeep of the inmates of the Shekinah Orphanage at Community Seven in Tema.

Members made the presentation, which included a television set, detergents, beverages, rice, and loaves of bread, jointly with their male counterparts, the Social Action Committee.

Mrs Gloria Moncar-Tay, President of the Fellowship, who made the presentation on behalf of the two groups, said it was in line with the Fellowship's Constitution, to meet the needs of the poor, the vulnerable and the disadvantaged in society. Mrs Moncar-Tay said it was symbolic that on Palm Sunday, members had come to present the items and to share with the orphans, the joy of Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem more than two thousand years ago. She hoped the items would go a long way to solve some of the problems facing the Home.

Esther Acquah, an eight-year old girl of the Home, received the items on behalf of her colleagues.

Mrs Ellen Annan, Founder of the Orphanage, thanked the donors for the gesture, and hoped other benevolent institutions would make similar donations to help provide for the needs of the inmates. Mrs Felicia Danso, wife of the Resident Minister of the Church, in an exhortation, urged the children to be humble and obedient to the Mothers of the Home. Mrs Danso reminded members of the Fellowship that as Christian mothers, they were duty bound to always provide the needs of the poor and needy in society. 28 March 10
