Speaking of tongues not devilish - Pastor

Sunyani (B/A), May 27, GNA - Apostle Joseph Albert Mensah, Chairman of Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council for Brong Ahafo Region, has said the speaking of tongues is not a devilish act but a spiritual gift from God.

Quoting from Acts of the Apostles, he noted that when one spoke in tongues, the person communicated directly with God and no human being or spiritual force could understand what the person uttered. Apostle Mensah said it was incumbent on Christians to imbibe the teachings of God and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit to make a difference in society. The chairman said Christians, when filled with the Holy Spirit, could overcome evil spirits that embolden them to engage in activities that were unchristian.

Apostle Mensah said there were different kinds of spiritual gifts from God mentioning the gifts of wisdom, knowledge, healing, faith, prophecy and speaking in tongues. He called on those who described the gift of tongues as devilish to desist from the act saying anything that came from God could never be evil. The chairman added that the Holy Spirit brought spiritual empowerment to help Christians to live as conquerors by overcoming the devil and restoring all the blessings which were taken from them. He urged Christendom to seek after the spiritual gifts of God and desist from profanity and negative pronouncements which could wreck their lives.
