Religious leader abhors indiscipline in society

Sunyani, Jan. 27, GNA - The Rev Sampson Kissih, General Overseer of Lighthouse Chapel International Church in the Brong-Ahafo Region, has attributed indiscipline, social vices and the many evils in the society to the liberalization of the air waves, adoption of Western culture and false ministers of the gospel.

He told the GNA in an interview that the problem of moral degeneration "is mainly due to the liberalization of the air waves, creating a situation where all kinds of indecency, obscenities and unfiltered language and utterances are allowed on television and radio."

Rev. Kissih said the substitution of cultural and traditional values with Western culture and lifestyles were the remnants of modernity and the negative side of globalization.

"Ministers of the gospel who are tasked with the responsibility of ensuring the spiritual development of the people and their character formation are just not doing the right thing", he said.

"False ministers are here with us. Instead of preaching the true gospel most of them have opted for a different kind of message in the church, while others engage in immoral acts with church members. The real gospel that will let people dress decently is not being preached and the situation is exacerbated by the fact that most Christians do not read the Bibles".

Rev Kissih called for the formulation of laws to regulate the activities and the establishment of media outlets and drinking spots.
