Redefine Theological Education, Dr. Tawiah

Kumasi, Feb. 11, GNA - Dr. Augustine Tawiah, President of the Ghana Bible College has called on Theological Institutions to redefine theological education because it does not occur in vacuum. He said because of frequent theological agitations, there was the need to educate members of the church to grow in the Word so that everybody would have a strong foundation in the church.

Dr.Tawiah was speaking at the Christian University College Kumasi Campus First graduation ceremony in Kumasi on Saturday. The ceremony, which was under the theme, "Theological Education and Nation Building" saw four students graduating in a one-year Pastoral Ministries programme.

They were Mr Simon Kyei, Job Twum Boateng, Mrs Elizabeth Afumwaa and Madam Margaret Owusu Acheampomaa.

Dr. Tawiah said when people acquire education it must lead to total transformation of the person and the society at large saying, "good character must start from those who understand the teachings of God.

He indicated that the church has a responsibility to educate its members on social justice and the preservation of the environment at all levels. He said as the nation celebrates its 50th anniversary, there was the need for Christians to shine, love one another and also try to live in closer collaboration with their neighbours. "Let's live in harmony and in peace so that those who are prepared to lead the church and the nation would have our fullest support".

Professor Emmanuel Adjei, President of the Ghana Christian University College said the College does not ordain pastors but train and equip them with knowledge to do the work of God and development of the society.

He hoped that the graduates would serve as leaders of integrity advancing excellence in a total transformational service in the society. He said the College was prepared to train leaders who believe in a commitment to Christ's ideals, who are committed to rigorous self-development and who are also transformational, leading many to the reality of life in Christ.

Mr. Boateng, the Students' Representative called for all the necessary assistance and support to get the College well-established in Kumasi, saying," its coming to Kumasi is timely. We know as the Pioneers that sometimes, we wrote in our notes holding our books in our hands, since we did not have tables".
