Presbyterian Men's Fellowship pledge to fight indiscipline

Accra, Aug 25, GNA - The Men's Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana have resolved to put together an action plan to arrest indiscipline in the society.

In a resolution, they said, "The Fellowship is worried about the spate of acts of indiscipline in the Ghanaian society, notably amongst the youth, who are the future leaders of the country."

"These acts of indiscipline are found in their mode of dressing, language and mannerism."

The fellowship stressed: 93It is sad that some Junior High School Students have flagrantly resorted to smoking, drinking, engaging in free sex, 'Sakawa', drug abuse and the worst of all, occultism."

The resolution was made in an eight-point communiquee adopted at the end of their 28th Annual National Delegates Conference, at Ho.

It was under the theme: "Empowerment by the Holy Spirit - The Men's Encounter."

The Fellowship renewed its pledge to offer guidance and support to the Youth Ministry of the Church, with the training of Children's Service Teachers and provision of places of worship for children.

"We promise to provide some teaching materials and actually assist in the process of moulding the children," the communiqu=E9 added.

On Evangelism, Bible Study and Church Growth, the Fellowship conceded that it had not performed well and pledged: "Beginning this religious year, we would be empowered by God to vigorously pursue evangelism to win more souls for Jesus Christ."

The Fellowship congratulated the Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey, Ga Presbytery Chairman of the Church, on his election as the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church from December 2010.

It also appealed to individuals and groups in the church to bury their differences and support the Moderator-elect to build a virile Holy-Spirit filled Church to the Glory of God and the benefit of humanity.

The Fellowship commended the out-going Moderator, the Rt. Rev. Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso for his dynamism, devotion to duty and vision, which had turned around the fortunes of the Church.

It commended the General Assembly of the Church for undertaking to support the Fellowship to complete its project at Doryumu in Dangme Tongu Presbytery in good time.

The next conference of the fellowship would be hosted by the Sekyere Presbytery in 2011.
