Pastor calls for assistance for orphans, destitute

Akwatia, Jan 20, GNA - A pastor, the Reverend Arthur Yaw Prempeh, has appealed to the well-to-do and philanthropists to donate generously to orphanages for the proper care and upbringing of the inmates who deserved love and attention.

Rev. Prempeh, made the call at a reception organized by management of an Nkawkaw based radio station, Obuoba FM, for the children of My shepherd Orphanage at Akwatia. He appealed to the Akwatia Traditional Authority to release land to the orphanage for a permanent home for the children. Rev. Prempeh also called for financial and material assistance for the orphanage to realize its dream of having a permanent building. He asked Ghanaians to pay periodic visits to orphanages to see how the children were faring and to donate their "widow's mite" to them for their welfare.

The Pastor said those assisting orphans, widows, poor and needy would be richly blessed by God. The Proprietor of the Orphanage, Miss Philomena Agyei, thanked management of Obuoba FM for their gesture and expressed the hope that individuals and organizations would emulate them. She said the orphanage, set up five years ago, currently had 25 inmates who in spite of constraints were being well- catered for.
