PNC Message on ID UL ADHA

The People’s National Convention-PNC wishes to solidarise with the Muslim fraternity in Ghana on the occasion of the Eidul adha festival. For those who were privileged to celebrate this most important Islamic feast in Saudi, we wish them Allah’s protection and a fruitful and successful pilgrimage even though they would be held “hostage” for close to a month after they have performed this exercise in Mecca.

To the many that are unable to perform this Hajj due to no fault of theirs, we express our most sincere sympathy. It is the considered opinion of the PNC that a better and decent job could have been done if sufficient national interest was taken on matters affecting Muslims in Ghana. Whilst bemoaning the inhumane conditions that Muslims had to go through in readiness to perform this sacred religious obligation, we call on government to institute a probe into the perennial problems that confront pilgrims over the years.

We pray that this Eid will bring Allah’s blessings unto all Ghanaians for us to live harmoniously. As Allah answers each and every Muslim’s prayer in this period, we hope that we each will rededicate ourselves to strengthening our nation by eschewing corruption, indiscipline and vulgar practices.

This requires prayers to enable us select leaders that will serve this nation honestly. For us in the PNC, we pledge that in the coming year we shall continue and faithfully contribute our quota to deepening democratic governance in Ghana to serve the public interest of all Ghanaians without fear or favour. Meanwhile, the PNC appeals to those beloved pilgrims who would be detained in Mecca to remain resolute and not be daunted by the circumstances. For we have no doubt that, the reward of this Holy exercise outweighs the hell they are being put through.

Once again we wish our Muslim brothers and sisters a blissful Eidul Adha. Barika da Sallah and God bless Ghana.

A.B. Mornah [General Secretary]
