Need for leaders in church groups to collaborate - Rev Oppong

Accra, Jan. 15, GNA – Reverend Herbert Anim Oppong, Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) on Sunday called on the leadership of various groups to collaborate to revive the church and address issues confronting it.

He therefore, tasked the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Men’s Fellowship to take the lead, together with the leadership of the other groups, “To revive the church and address issues confronting us now. You should lead the crusade to witness, for there are evil deeds in our lives and the church.” Rev. Oppong made the call when delivering the sermon at the induction of a 10-Member NEC at the Ebenezer Congregation of the church in Accra, for a three-year term.

He said “It might sound daunting and an uphill task, but if we remember who has called us, He will give us the strength to perform to His glory”. The Clerk of General Assembly of PCG said” You have been called through election and God has something for you. It is important for Christians and those in leadership to remember it is God who has called us and that understanding drives us in the way we see and understand issues.” “Any work we do for the Lord, whether being paid or voluntary, it is God who has called us to serve Him, however, the sense of righteousness is being blurred daily on whatever we do and think as Christians, “he added. Rev. Oppong pointed out that a major challenge facing the NEC was to bring most of the men in the church outside the Fellowship into their fold. He said “God called you to transform yourself and others. Being part of God’s church, we are responsible for God’s call to others in the great commission of evangelism.

“God will guide you and lead you to lead the Men’s Fellowship to higher heights.” Lieutenant-Colonel Jonas Yaw Asamoah (rtd), National President of the Fellowship called for unity and cooperation from the leadership of the various groups in the church to perform well in their calling to the glory of God. He called on members of NEC to be obedient, dedicated and selfless to execute their mandate towards the progress and development of the church.
