Madam Felicia Tetteh, the Northern Regional 2nd Vice Chairperson of the NPP, has donated food items to hundreds of widows calling themselves as Tears of Widows (Pakoya Nintam) within the Tamale Metropolis.

The Tears of Widows group received 10 bags of Rice, 10 bags of maize, 50 crates of soft drinks and 5 gallons of cooking oil to enable them celebrate the Eid dul fitr.

The donation forms part the Tacorabama’s CEO philanthropic gestures to put smiles on the vulnerable in society especially at the end Ramadan period.

The NPP 2nd Vice chairperson who also doubles as the Regional Coordinator for the School Feeding Programme urged the widows to be strong and have faith with their maker.

She bemoaned the level widows and their children begging on the streets, “this is not the society that we want… this is the society that women must come together to support each other. As a woman I don’t have to be a widow to see what you are feeling, as a woman I know when your child doesn’t eat how it pains, when you are not able to pay your child school fees you can’t sleep…every woman wants the best for the child, even you have your husband with you sometimes it is difficult to bringing up these children how much more you alone, deserted to your own fate … no one is coming to your aid to support… people do come but is it enough”.

Madam Felicia hinted that, the Nana Addo NPP led government cares so much about women empowerment, saying that, the government has initiated various programmes to empower the Ghanaian women to be more sufficient and more able to take care of the families.

“Today that I am in your midst is not about given you what I can how often can visit you… the main aimed is empowerment, women empowerment if we help you people to do something for yourselves then it will go long way to trigger you to take good care of your children and when you take care of your children and they become better citizens then your duty of being a mother it’s also fulfilled”. She said

Madam Felicia urged the widows not be despaired, “You shouldn’t say because you are widow all hope is loss, all hope is not loss you are still a living human being, you still have your future ahead of you… don’t just say my husband is no more, the family doesn’t take care of me and I don’t have money to take care of children.

You have to support each other…as women there are various capacities that we can do to support each other so that your children will be the sole beneficiaries of this sufferings that you are going through today. Don’t give out hope because if you give out hope then you losing hope for your children, you are not building the sort of future children need to grow to become a better citizens of this country. So if I’m here today just take me as one of your own.

I would contact with one or two people then you will come out with kind of job opportunities then you can also start from there and you take care of yourselves rather than relying on some of these petty-petty things because it not be coming all the time but you need to survived … you need to pay your rents.

You need to pay school fees… you need to be on your own then may be society once in a while can also support, So if I’m here it’s not about what I can give today… it’s about women empowerment, we been there for each other and striving for better future for ourselves and the children”
