Mount Ararat Church offers scholarships to needy children

Amasaman (GAR), March 9, GNA - The Mount Ararat Church International at Amasaman in the Ga West District of the Greater Accra Region under its scholarship scheme, is sponsoring nine needy but brilliant persons from primary to the tertiary level. Reverend Isaac Asante, General Overseer of the Church, who announced this at the 7th anniversary celebration of the church at Amasaman on Sunday, said plans were far advanced to put up a school in the district to cater for the educational needs of the people.

He said the school project expected to be completed in five years would be financed through voluntary contributions and fundraising activities. Rev. Asante said the Church which was started with seven members now had a congregation of 500.

He said the Church would continue to offer assistance to the needy in society in other deprived areas as part of its social responsibilities. Rev. Asante urged other Church leaders to desist from acts which might bring the office of the clergy into disrepute. He cautioned drivers against drunkenness. He charged all Ghanaians to get actively involved in the National Prayer and Fasting Week declared by the President.
