The Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema, Ghana Branch, has organised the second edition of its annual Hadith Competition in Accra.
This year’s event brought together Arabic students from various Madrasas across selected regions of Ghana, offering them the platform to demonstrate their knowledge, recitation, and interpretation of the Hadith, the sayings and traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Ahead of the national event, regional preliminaries were held to identify the best candidates to represent their zones.
The competition was divided into sectors: Northern Zone: Upper East, Upper West, Northern, and Savannah regions.
Central Zone: Central, Bono, Bono East, Ahafo, Ashanti, and Eastern regions.
Southern Zone: Greater Accra Region and its adjoining towns, including parts of the Western and Volta regions.
The Hadith Competition, held annually under the auspices of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema, seeks to promote Islamic scholarship, preserve the Prophetic traditions, and inspire young Muslims to deepen both their spiritual knowledge and religious practice.
Beyond fostering academic excellence, the competition also emphasises the relevance of the Hadith in guiding contemporary Muslim life.
It encourages youth and the wider Muslim community to actively engage with the rich legacy of Islamic learning while strengthening ties of unity, discipline, and moral values.
Dignitaries from the Moroccan Embassy, the Muslim community, Islamic scholars, and Arabic instructors from the various Madrasas graced the event, commending the Foundation’s efforts to nurture the next generation of Islamic leaders and scholars.
Speaking at the event, Sheikh Mustapha Ibrahim, President of the Ghana branch of the Foundation, expressed his delight at the high level of commitment shown by the students.
He commended the organisers for their efforts and urged the winners to make Ghana proud in the upcoming continental finals.
“Ghana will be competing against Nigeria, Mauritania, Senegal, Chad, Morocco, and other African countries. With the dedication shown in this year’s competition, I am confident Ghana stands a strong chance of winning,” Sheikh Ibrahim noted.
He further encouraged students to uphold the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), remain steadfast in their studies, and continue engaging with the Hadith.
