Methodist Church Choir Conference opens in Accra

Accra, Aug. 21, GNA - The Rt. Reverend Abraham Tagoe, Methodist Bishop of Accra Diocese has called on choristers in the country to compose songs that would have an impact on the society. He said they should ensure that the songs serve as a unifying force for national unity and also win souls for Christ. Rt. Rev. Tagoe made the call at the opening of the 13th Biennial delegate's conference of the Accra Diocese of the Association of Methodist Church Choirs, Ghana, at Legon, near Accra, on Friday. About 24 Circuits are attending the four-day conference, which is under the theme' The Bible in the Christian's Life and Ministry'. It conference would also take stock of the past year, identify their shortcomings and intensify their efforts at development. Rt. Rev Tagoe said music plays an important role in the socio-economic development of every nation and also serve as a tool of communication with God.

'You can communicate with God through songs and also to uplift your spiritual growth." He urged the participants to be proactive and live a spirit-filled life in order to produce "spirit-filled songs to provide spiritual support for the church."

Rev. Samuel Tackie, former Diocesan Chairman, urged the choristers "to be up and doing and work in unity", which he said, was the bedrock of every society's growth. He called on parents to take interest in the education of their children so that they may become useful citizens. 21 Aug. 09
