Members of Sakumono Presby Church protest sacking of pastor

Members of the Presbyterian Church of Hope at the Sakumono Estates in Accra have staged a protest at what they call an illegal termination of their pastor’s appointment by the national leadership of the church.

They say the church’s leaders failed to follow due process in the termination of Rev. Gideon Pupulampu’s appointment.

Some aggrieved church members Sunday wore red armbands to church service to register their displeasure at the development. They protested on the church’s premises after the service.

It is the first time such a protest has taken place in the church.

Senior Presbyter, Mr Alfred Kwesi Poku, told Joy News the right thing must be done.

“There is some kind of unfairness, injustice, and non-equity situation happening in the church relating to transfers, further studies of our ministers and the posting into the church of new ministers,” he said.

Mr Poku said they had written to the leadership of the church and that the next line of action will be determined by the response received from the authorities.

The Public Relation Officer of the National Presbytery, Mr Emmanuel Acheampong has however denied the allegations.
