Let’s use Ramadan to repair relations-Hajia Keltu

Accra, Aug 18,GNA-Hajia Sirina Keltu, Greater-Accra Regional President of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Ghana (FOMWAG), has observed that Ramadan is not just a ritual, but a time for Muslims to repair relations with their neighbours, and unite and work for the good of society.

For this reason, she said, Muslims must use the Holy month of Ramadan (ninth month on the Islamic Calendar), to fast, offer more prayers, and ask forgiveness for past sins committed against Allah and their neighbours.

Hajia Keltu made the observation at a day’s Ramadan Seminar organized by FOMWAG at Madina, near Accra, on the theme: “Reinforcing a Sense of Unity-The Role of Ramadan.”

She said as taught by Ramadan, Muslims must endeavour to share the burdens of others, especially those who are less fortunate.

Mrs Keltu reminded Muslims of their responsibilities towards others, and identify with them in different ways.

She said Muslims must be aware of the significance of unity as a universal humanitarian principle, and endeavour to live harmoniously with their neighbours, because the importance of unity was stressed by Allah, the blessed, the exalted.

Mrs Keltu said FOMWAG, would through education unite Muslim women with their families, communities, and the country as a whole.

Speaking on the theme: ”Reinforcing a Sense of Unity-The Role of Ramadan,” Alhaji Ibrahim Baidoo, Director of Al-Haq Islamic School at Ashaiman, pointed out that the good deeds of a man was rewarded by Allah in multiples during the month of Ramadan.

“As Muslims, we should by our actions show the true teachings of Islam, and let our ways of life reflect the teachings of our religion, even after the Ramadan.”

Alhaji Baidoo charged members of FOMWAG to use the occasion to bring unity in their marriage, and be charitable towards their neighbours during and after the Ramadan.
