Leaders should serve downtrodden as Jesus Christ did

Hohoe, March 21, GNA- The Reverend Father Titus Sraha, Parish Priest of the St. Augustine's Catholic Church at Hohoe on Good Friday urged leaders, especially politicians to serve the interests of the down-trodden just as Jesus Christ did. He said Christ's death at Easter had brought new life, hope and experience to mankind and urged leaders to exemplify the humility of Christ to bring comfort to the ruled.

Reverend Father Sraha who was delivering the Good Friday sermon said leadership should serve the people as Christ demonstrated and not lord themselves over the people.

He said Christ's crucifixion and resurrection was his unique gift, to transform those of us "who are nobody to become somebody" Reverend Father Sraha urged Ghanaians not to despair as Christ had overcome all difficulties for a revealing future. In a sermon to mark "Easter Tridum", Mr Alexander Nyarku, Presbyter of the Hohoe Evangelical Presbyterian Church extolled the congregation to see Christ's suffering on the crucifix as a model for mankind not to retaliate the abuses meted out to him.

"If there was really love for one another, the world would have been a peaceful place for all, but alas, the opposite was dominating the world including injustices, wars, corruption and inordinate quest for material gains", Mr Nyarku said.
