Director of Hamdaniyya Islamic School, Sheikh Yusifu Musah Akpopirebo; has advised Muslims to take their Islamic education as important as their secular pursuits of knowledge.

According to him; "the search for knowledge in the 21st century cannot be underestimated," he further described as admirable the pursuance of secular knowledge by Muslims; many of who aspire to higher levels of education.

He issued the advice to parents and students of the school at the 3rd Junior High School graduation ceremony of the Hamdaniyya Islamic school at the Alajo branch of the school over the weekend.

"Whether you are at Junior or Senior High School (in secular education), even if you are at the tertiary level, you must not abandon your pursuit of Islamic education, because it is equally important to your holistic upbringing," he stated.

He identified the Islamic education as knowledge that came with character training and a system which guards a person right from birth till old age, "you have to prioritize your Islamic education because it helps build your character and morals" he added.

The event saw two year batches graduating, five students from the previous year (2014) and four students for the year 2015 were handed their certificates. They were all clad in academic gowns with matching caps.

Chairman for the occasion, Sheikh Swallah Abubakar Kuwaiti of Alajo Central Mosque also emphasized the need for a good character because that was the best compliment to education, according to him; "without character; education served little or no purpose"

He urged the students to also ensure that they impart what they have learnt in order to impact on others and on the society at large. Charging them to be worthy ambassadors of Hamdaniyya wherever they found themselves.

Scholarship disbursements were also made in the mode of cash donations to two best students for three preceding batches. The event was also graced by other Islamic schools in Newtown, Alajo and Pig farm area.
