Imam urges Muslim women to stop wearing wigs to the mosque

The deputy Chief Imam for the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions has cautioned Muslims to desist from wearing wigs to prayer gatherings.

Alhaji Baba Seidu said it is immoral to attend Eid ul-Adha, Eid ul-Fitr celebrations and other prayer gatherings while wearing a wig.

“…wig-caps fixing and other outfits that seems immoral are against the will of Almighty Allah and the teachings of Islam,” he said.

The deputy Chief Imam said this when he led prayers to commence this year’s Eid ul-Adha celebration at the Sunyani Jubilee Park on Sunday, August 11.

He highlighted that one major significance of the occasion is the reminder of an obligation on all Muslims to renew their covenant of faith.

He said, like ‘Ibraham’ (Abraham) who offered ‘Issah’ (Isaac) as a sacrificial lamb to Allah, all Muslims must also always obey Allah.

Alhaji Seidu further urged the gathered Muslims to demonstrate obedience to God as well as love, kindness and respect towards one another.

Also in attendance at the prayer session was the Deputy Bono Regional Minister, Siaka Stevens.

Mr. Stevens advocated for the promotion of both formal and informal education, insisting no progress could be made in all aspects of life in the society without it.

He encouraged Muslim parents to make it a priority educate their wards in order to give them a better future.
