The Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer Sisters have marked 60 years of existence as a congregation.

The anniversary which was launched last year at the Mary, Mother of Good council Catholic Church in Accra was climaxed on Thursday February 2, at the mother house of the congregation at Agomanya in the Eastern Region.

The 60th Anniversary ceremony was marked with a Holy Mass presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra Most Rev. Charles Palmer-Buckle and was attended by hundreds of priests, religious, benefactors and the general public.

The anniversary coincided with the Golden and Silver jubilee celebrations of Sisters Mary Emmanuella Awudza, Mary Clare Spencer and Mary Bernice Atsufi Awumee, Mary Gifty Amoah Godwyl, and Mary Mercy Stephanie Assan respectively.

Speaking at the event, the superior of the congregation Rev. Sister Mary
Matilda Sorkpor HDR said by them being consecrated, the HDR religious sisters are to strive to give themselves totally in love to God through humility and obedience and by associating themselves in the redemptive mission of Christ.

She said members of the congregation are invited by their founders to imitate the life of Mary from all the stages of her life.
