The General Secretary of Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Rev Emmanuel T. Barigah has said while God’s protection is guaranteed for all, it is wisdom for Pastors to have bodyguards.

He was speaking in an interview on Onua FM’s Yen Sempa, December 31, 2018.

According to him, “God protect us all, but we must live by wisdom”.

“I don’t think there is anything wrong if pastors are given protection, but the basic thing is God protect us all so it is also a matter of choice”, he added.

He however added a caveat, “I know whatever happens if I die, I will go to heaven so God is my chief body guard.”

He disagreed with any suggestion that the state should provide protection for pastors.

“The state does not have the resource to provide. It is not viable because this is one in a lot so we should not rush in taking any decision.”

The top pastors comments follow the death of an Assemblies of God pastor Rev Dr David Nabegmado who was stabbed to death by his nephew in Accra.

Many are of the opinion that if the man had a bodyguard, his death would have been avoidable.
