Churches in Ho to compete for trophies in Easter Games

Ho, April 21, GNA - Various Churches groupings in the Ho Metropolis are to compete for honours in both male and female soccer events during this Easter holidays at the Ho Sports Stadium. The Games, a second edition under the auspices of Ghana Youth For Christ (YFC) is to foster unity among churches in the area is also aimed at discovering talents.

Reverend Jerry Hanson Wedanu, Volta Regional Coordinator of YFC told the GNA Sports that the event would be accompanied with evangelism and musical shows.

"This is to engage young people meaningfully during the festivities so that they do not indulge in social vices on the days," he said.

Rev. Wedanu said there would be other sporting activities to cater for people whose interests are not only in soccer. He commended Captain George Nfodjoh, Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Millicom Ghana Limited, operators of Tigo and B.D Godwin Enterprise, a distributor of Nestle products in Ho for supporting the event.

Defending champions, E. P. Church, Dela Cathedral and Jubilee Christian Centre in the male and female soccer respectively are fancied to reach the finals.

Meanwhile, The Lord's Pentecostal Church and new entrant, St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church are likely to pull a surprise. Colonel Cyril Necku (Rtd.), Deputy Volta Regional Minister is expected to grace the occasion in the company with some Ministers of the gospel. 21 April 11
