Christians told become good examples to society

The Right Reverend Professor Osei-Safo Kantanka, Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, has called on Christians to lead principled, pious and exemplary lives in the society.

He said they should repudiate anything evil-corruption, greed, vindictiveness, arrogance, lies; and that Christians should rather have empathy for the poor and the suffering, learn to forgive and show love to all.

Rt. Rev, Prof Kantanka said this when delivering a sermon at a Good Friday service at the Adum Wesley Cathedral in Kumasi.

He said the death of Christ was significant as it brought salvation, reconciliation and redemption to mankind and advised members of the church to use the Easter festivities to renew their commitment to God.

At the Bantama Peyer Memorial Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev Alexander Adu-Sekyere, the Minister in-charge, called for religious tolerance adding that followers of the various religious faiths should accept to peacefully co-exist.

He said it is important to recognize that there could not be any meaningful progress where there is religious or political antagonism and intolerance.

The Rev Adu-Sekyere advised Christians to also pray for a peaceful election and ensure that political actors conduct themselves in a responsible manner.**
