Christians should have a place in their hearts to forgive

Ejisu (Ash), June 15, GNA - Christians have been called upon to have a place in their heart for forgiveness and live in total peace with those who wrong them.

Reverend Father Peter Kofi Laas, Provincial Superior for the Holy Spirit (Spiritan) Congregation of Ghana, said this was the way out for Ghana to achieve national cohesion.

He blamed political and social unrest in parts of the world on vindictiveness, which he defined as the strong inclination for one to seek revenge.

Rev Father Laas was speaking at a service to mark the Pentecost Feast at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.

It was attended by the Holy Spirit Congregation Priests in Ghana, Spiritan Associates from across the country and the lay faithful of the Catholic Church.

It comes ahead of the 40th anniversary celebration of the formation of the Holy Spirit Congregation (Spiritans) in Ghana, scheduled for October at the Spiritan University College, Ejisu.

Rev Father Laas underlined the need for the Christians to work hard to achieve spiritual growth.

This he said was possible if they did away with the lust for material wealth.

The Rector of Spiritan University College, Rev Father Jackson Ato, said the academic facility would continue to present Christ to the people through missionary work in deprived and difficult areas.
