Christians must stand up against social evils

Atimatim, (Ash), July 4, GNA - Christians should be courageous to speak against the bad conduct and social ills, especially homosexuality, which are fast gaining root in the society. Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, Kwabre West Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, said the church has a responsibility to assist in restoring discipline and decency in all spheres of society. Mr Appiah said Christians must prevent the 93ungodly practice" from taking foothold in Ghana.

He was speaking at a thanksgiving service organized by the party at the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church at Atimatim in the Afigya-Kwabre District to praise God for the smooth conduct of their primary election.

Odeneho Appiah said it was important for Christians to become good examples to the rest of the society.

Mr William Aidoo, the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area, appealed to the congregation to encourage their families and friends to register when the voters' register is opened. They should also get actively involved in national issues to help speed up the development of the nation.

Mr Festus Boadi Suadwa, an elder of the church, commended the leadership of the party in the constituency for showing gratitude to God and prayed that they would continue to rely on God's guidance.
