Christians asked to receive Jesus Christ into their lives

Kumasi, Dec. 27, GNA - The Rt. Rev. Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, has said 2007 had been an eventful year for the country and that a lot of positive things had happened for which Ghanaians should be thankful to God.

In a Christmas Message issued in Kumasi on Tuesday, Bishop Sarfo said it had been a year of jubilee for Ghana, it had enjoyed debt cancellation, participated in the World Cup football tournament for the first time and is about to host the African Cup of Nations. The nation has struck oil, the President is the Chairman of the African Union, survived the energy crises and the Akosombo Dam did not collapse.

"For all these and many others, if any nation will not praise and offer thanksgiving to God it should not be Ghanaians. We are grateful to our Everlasting Father for all the good things, mercies and the blessings he has bestowed on us", the Bishop said. He said 2008, which is a leap year, is equally going to be an eventful year for Ghana and all Ghanaians. The Rt. Rev. Sarfo spoke about Election 2008 and called for prayers for the President, politicians, religious leaders as well as the Electoral Commission.

Bishop Safo said Ghana belonged to all Ghanaians, is bigger and more important than any political party and it was a divine duty of every Ghanaian to safeguard the relative peace and stability that the nation was enjoying.

"This is the only way we can further push ahead the development process of the country. Every person in Ghana is important. We are one people with one destiny. We need every person from all the tribes of Ghana to build Ghana."

"This should be our cherished aim, our endless endeavour and the direction of our collective efforts", he said.
