Christians asked to pray for peaceful elections

Madam Martha Bruckner, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ejura-Sekyedumase, has called on Christians to pray for peaceful elections in 2012.

He noted that elections had caused conflicts and civil strife in some African countries, and there was the need to pray for God’s intervention as Ghana prepared for Election 2012.

Madam Bruckner was speaking at the 37th annual national retreat of the Scripture Union (SU) at Sekyedumase at the weekend.

The DCE advised all politicians to be tolerant and circumspect in their utterances to prevent tension, and to observe electoral rules to promote democracy.

Madam Bruckner commended the SU for initiating measures to help young people refrain from evil and to get closer to God.

Professor Samuel Afrane, Provost, College of Arts and Social Sciences of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), asked Christians to be wary of charlatans parading as prophets and pastors and using all sorts of tricks to dupe innocent people.

Mr Kwame Adu, National Director of SU, asked Christians to work hard to win more souls for Christ.
