Choral music competition held in Kumasi

Kumasi, July 9, GNA - The Anglican Diocese of Kumasi in collaboration with the Public Affairs Section of the United States of America (USA) Embassy in Ghana at the weekend organised a choral music competition in Kumasi.

The competition attracted participants, including the Fisk University Jubilee Singers from the USA, Saint Cyprian's Anglican Church Choir, the Centre for National Culture Choir, the Wesley Cathedral Church Choir and the Saint Peter's Basilica Church Choir, all in Kumasi. It formed part of activities to commemorate Ghana's 50 years anniversary.

The participating choirs entertained the audience in a three-hour choral music performance.

In remarks read for her, Miss Pamela Bridgewater, US Ambassador to Ghana said the event was a continuation of the Embassy's programmes to mark the country's golden jubilee. She said the Fisk University had a long enduring and rich history and that it will be celebrating its 135th anniversary of its establishment this year.

Miss Bridgewater expressed hope that members of the singing team will share their spiritual, cultural and educational experiences with their Ghanaian counterparts to enhance the affinity that existed between the two countries.

Mr Paul Kami, Musical Director of the Fisk University Jubilee Singers congratulated Ghanaians for the celebration of the occasion this year.

The singers have been performing music and concerts in many countries to help raise funds to support the activities of the university and charity.
