Catholic Priests, St. Dominic men show off cooking prowess on Mothers’ Day

It was such a memorable day for members of the St. Dominic Catholic Church at Taifa in Accra as the world celebrated the much awaited Mothers’ Day on May 14.

The day which was marked with various activities across the world was to appreciate the efforts and the role of women especially mothers and to encourage them to keep up the good works in transforming the lives of their children and society at large.

On this day, mothers are “worshipped” by their children and are showered with gifts of different kind.

Well, mothers at the St. Dominic Catholic Church were not left out of the celebration.

The mass celebration which is usually dominated by the youth was taken over by the lovely mothers as they beautifully served, ushered, proclaimed, among others.

Delivering his sermon during the mass, the Director of Religious Education and Catechesis at the National Catholic Secretariat, Very Rev Fr. Samuel Akoto Mensah cautioned mothers to be good teachers and counselors to their wards.

According to Fr. Akoto Mensah, parents, especially mothers must have the welfare of their children at heart and be ready to “kill vices in their kids at the early stages” in order to prevent such vices from maturing in to social cankers.

“Not every mum is a mum because some mothers do not have the welfare of their children at heart,” he noted and prayed for God's wisdom and blessings for the mothers.

Led by the two zealous and spirit-filled Rev. Fathers; Emmanuel Obeng Codjoe and Courage Senam Dogbey, the men decided to show off their cooking skills after mass.



Assorted foods were prepared by the men at the forecourt of the church while the women sat and watched - listening to music.



The ‘senior chefs’, Emmanuel Obeng Codjoe and Courage Senam Dogbey who fed the mothers with Waakye and Indomie respectively, demonstrated they were not just good at feeding the church the word of God but must also ensure the physical body is nourished as well.



In fact the day would not have been fun enough for Mothers without the men showing them how much they are loved and cherished.
