Catholic Priest adds his voice to calls for peaceful elections

Gomoa Akropong (C/R), Nov. 26, GNA -The Reverend Father Emmanuel Abbey-Quaye of the Saint Theresa's Seminary at Amissano near Elmina, has added his voice to calls on Ghanaians not to do anything that will disturb the peace that the country has been enjoying. The Priest said after "casting one's vote on December 7, the voter should quietly leave the scene and go home to wait for the results to be declared". He was preaching at the 'Corpus Christi' celebration of the Apam Parish of the Catholic Church at Gomoa Akropong in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region.

"There is no need for anybody to do things that would mar the peaceful atmosphere and derail Ghana's young democratic dispensation". Rev Father Abbey-Quaye urged the people in the area to use the celebration to pray to God for directions to choose good leaders for the nation.

The Gomoa West District Chief Executive, Miss Joyce Aidoo, noted that politics was not a dirty game and called for that notion to be corrected. She advised all member of the public to play their roles well and avoid acts that have the potential of plunging the country into mayhem. The Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Mr Joe Kingsley Hackman, appealed to the people to renew his mandate to enable him to continue with his good work.
