Bishop Abadamloora calls on Catholic Priests to pray always

Bolgatanga, April 8, GNA - Most Reverend Lucas Abadamloora, Bishop of the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Catholic Diocese, on Wednesday called on all Catholic Priests to remain faithful to their duties and pray always for Christ's guidance and support. He noted that even though "ordinary prayers" were important for all Christians, praying the breviary was most significant for every Catholic Priest and should not be neglected. "We do not get the full benefit of our ministry if we don't pray", he said.

Most Reverend Abadamloora who is also the President of the Catholic Bishop's Council, made the call when he concelebrated Chrism Mass together with the priests of the diocese. Chrism Mass is a Church service held on the last Wednesday before Easter to bless the Sacramental oils used in the Church and the Priests also use that occasion to renew their priestly vows and pledge to the people.

He asked the priests to do their work with humility and devotion, keeping in mind that God gives them the power they had. "Priests should not be proud of the favour they get from God but should strive to live in the Lord's Grace," the Bishop said. He urged the priests to model their lives on the mystery of Christ and grow in holiness, celebrating mass, evangelizing and praying with devotion.

The Bishop later announced that Mr Alfred Afulani, a retired educationist had been made the Diocesan Lay Director to replace the late Mr. Augustine Azupio.
