Be impartial - Reverend Barffo

Prestea(WR), April 29, GNA - Very Reverend Thomas Christian Barffo, Synod Secretary of Tarkwa Diocese of Methodist Church of Ghana has called on church leaders to be objective when delivering sermons especially in this election year.

He said the congregation was made up of people with different political backgrounds and affiliations and showing passion for a particular political party would undermine unity in the church and the nation.

However, he said, church leaders had a responsibility to lead prayer crusade for peaceful elections. Very Rev. Barffo made the call when delivering a sermon at a thanksgiving service to end the 24th Annual Synod of Tarkwa Diocese of the church at Prestea.

He urged the congregation to vote according to their conscience being guided by divine counsel to elect someone who could promote peace, development and strive for better living standards for the people. Very Rev. Barffo advised Christians not to indulge in electoral malpractices but be law-abiding before, during and after the election. 29 April 08
