Ascension Lutheran Church donates to three institutions at Mampong

Kumasi, March 9, GNA - Members of the Ascension Lutheran Church based in the United States of America (USA) on Thursday donated some items worth 3,000 dollars to the Saint Monica's Primary School, the Babies Home and the library, all at Asante-Mampong. The items include textbooks, pens, pencils and secondhand clothings.

Nana Osei Tutu, a citizen of Mampong based in the USA who led the members of the church to make the donation, said education was vital to the development of every nation. He said the donation was in response to appeal made by Nana Afua Dufie, Queenmother of Mampong when she interacted with the members of the church last year concerning the problems facing most of the schools in the area.

Miss Mabel Asafo-Adjei, Supervisor of the Mampong Babies Home on behalf of the beneficiary institutions, thanked the church for the gifts and promised to make judicious use of them. She appealed to individuals, churches and organizations to emulate the church and assist the needy in society. 09 March 07
